I don't remember if it was specifically a _requirement_ of the Conventional Forces in Europe treaty that was being negotioated in the 1980s, but one of the measures both sides took to show some good faith was to make it easier, or at least to not try so hard to make it difficult, for the other side to see where military gear was garrisoned.

As for bombers & missiles, both the US and the USSR/Russia agreed to destroy hardware that was in excess of negotiated limits, and did so with witnesses from the other side present. And there are treaty provisions about launchers (missiles & aircraft) being available for counting & inspection.
