I visited a facility that although they disallowed ground photography the facility had square miles of armored vehicles, some obsolete and some pretty recent lined up nose to tail and side-by-side all sitting out in the open. I was told at the time that the outdoor storage was specifically to comply with aspects of arms verification, obviously from overhead imagery. Apparently the same is done with strategic bombers as well. We keep our old warhorses and tanks out for the enemy to see and count. I wonder if the Russians do the same?
