The exposed video feed is the result of pressure to keep within the development cycle. The military is now sending video everywhere. They are still trying to come to grips with how to route and control video so that it isn't being seen by everyone. In regards to hacking into a UAV, there have been several drones lost in A-Stan where they have lost control of the drone and had to either shoot it down or self destruct it. One of the Predators they lost control of changed direction and was headed for Iran. So while it is generally believed that no-one has hacked into a drone the possibility that this could be done is considered a real threat. If I were writing a story about a top secret UAV I would have the UAV loose contact with it's handlers and somehow end up with a group of nerdy RF airplane enthusiast teenagers who discover they have a invisibility cloaking TS UAV and the secret service and the bad guys chasing them.
