I went out to the Back Gate today. It pretty much still looks as shown in Robert's photos. Except the pile of sand/fine gravel inside the fence, next to the guard shack, seemed taller. The staging area is about 220x360ft. The four corners are marked by wooden markers with the words "Staging Area" hand-written on them. The tracks of heavy equipment go towards the guard shack from there, so it appears this is done by the base, not the county. There is no other sign of road construction activity yet. The only change I noticed was that one of the radar sites, the one with the "donut" radar, has been partially removed, or it sustained some wind damage. The four surrounding antennas are gone, and the donut is missing. The exposed radar inside appears damaged or folded down.
