There is gas in Alamo, so I would not worry about carrying extra fuel. Alamo is a few miles past the Tikaboo turn off, coming from Vegas. But if you fill up in Vegas you can easily make it to the Tikaboo trail head and back to Alamo or Vegas. If you are not familiar with the area, I strongly suggest you get a GPS. If you loose the trail, it can be very difficult to find it again without knowing where your next waypoint is. And don't forget to take a waypoint where you park your car. There are trees at that elevation, and it can be difficult to find your way back to your car.
