The Australian unit is 77 Squadron and they're bringing six F/A-18A HUGs, complete with the new ALR-67(V)3 RWR and other enhancements. They departed Williamtown on Wednesday and are beong dragged across by two Omega tankers, a 707 and a DC-10.

The F/A-18Fs won't do a Red Flag until 2012 at the earliest. A unit needs to have achieved IOC and be close to FOC before attending a Flag type exercise.

The first four Super Hornets are due at Amberley by March 26, and are also being dragged home by Omega.
