I'm no expert, but I'd certainly recommend a sturdy tripod and cable release for the still camera to start with. The slightest movement will exaggerate many-times over with a 1000mm lens. If you don't have a tripod, take some old towels so you can position the camera and lens on a rock or something. A five-foot+ high tripod with a fluid head would also be nice for the video camera, so you can get nice smooth pans if following an aircraft or if trying to get a video panorama of a wide area. Also, when you think you have enough batteries, take more! Good hunting! Magoo
