I doubt it, at least for the foreseeable future. The Back Gate Road has been paved from the base up to the Guard Shack for years, but the part on public land, connecting the gate with the highway, remained a dirt road. The only road that was paved all the way was Cedar Gate Road around 2000 or 2001. Unless the base picks up the bill, the county is responsible for maintaining the road outside the restricted area. Cedar Gate is in Nye County, which has more funds for such projects than Lincoln County. Also, Cedar Road is used much more heavily than Groom Lake Road. At least for now...
