The crash happened on Oct 23rd. The pilot was rescued. See the newpaper article for full details.

I did a check of the notams, and can find any in that particular area. The nearest I could find was this:

/1550 - NV.. FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS 70 NW LAS VEGAS, NV. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. PURSUANT TO 14 CFR SECTION 91.137A(2) TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT WITHIN A 5 NAUTICAL MILE RADIUS OF (36 24.20 N/116 29.45 W) AND THE BEATTY /BTY/ VORTAC 136 DEGREE RADIAL AT 27 NM AT AND BELOW 15000 FEET MSL TO PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR AIRCRAFT RECOVERY. NELLIS AFB 702-652-7891 IS IN CHARGE OF ON SCENE EMERGENCY RESPONSE ACTIVITIES. RENO /RNO/ AFSS 775-784-5048 IS THE FAA COORDINATION FACILITY. WIE UNTIL UFN

This location is about 120 miles south of Tonopah. It is 3.7 miles north east of the Funeral Mountains. OK, the newpaper headline is crap, but the text of the story says it hit the Funeral Mountains, so this must be the notam.
