Nevada's economy is largely based on tourism. But gambling and other "vices" are not what Nevada is all about. Hunting, fishing, dude ranches, and real ranches are all big business. Nevada produces 3/4 of all the gold mined in the US and leads the nation in silver production. Why would someone want to fly into LV and then get out of town? LV is fun to visit, but guaranteed to remove your surplus cash. Lots of folks prefer to go experience the solitude of the deserts and mountains and, yes, enjoy a pricey dude ranch. Heck, Clint Eastwood comes here to helicopter ski. This year I camped at Coyote Summit and watched the jets play at Red Flag, visited Fallon Naval Air Station for Blue Angels and other aerial treats, watched WW2 T-6 Texas race at Reno Air Races, got up early to enjoy hot air balloons launch in the high desert around Elko, and got to fly in and dive/climb/roll in one of those T-6s. Not bad eh?
