I agree about the forum being what it is, but this is an on-topic item to me and I am sure to others. We travel here, and we are (hopefully) law abiding citizens.
If your firearms were unloaded, cased, separate from the ammo and locked in an inaccessible area (ie: trunk) you would fall in the category of lawful transport and not been exposed to breaking any state laws. Even CA will allow you to transport lawfully. The sites referred to will give all details related to the interstate transport of firearms. The key is to be lawful.
