When I bought 4 years ago it was $600. They have added some more satellites to improve reception. I did experience a problem with some dropped calls 4 years ago, but people have said it has improved since then, due to the additional satellites. I've found that you need to stand still with the antenna at an angle. When you get a good signal with several bars, stand still, don't wander around and you will not have a problem.

I've had friends be able to call for helicopter medivac before for an ATV accident. They were able to let the responders know the condition and gave coordinates to the air ambulance. The rescue went very smoothly and surprisingly quickly as there was no ambiguity as to what the exact emergency was.

If a webmaster could delete my duplicate posts I'd appreciate it as for some reason the Internet had a couple hic-ups.
