JP-7 was also used as the fuel for the SR-71. This fuel was needed because as the aircraft became extremely hot from flying at such high supersonic speeds, the fuel would not be ignited by the extreme heat. I read Ben Rich's book Skunkworks and he said that if someone dropped a lit match in the fuel, it would not ignite it.
