I haven't read the entire article, but I would like to offer one possible explanation for the orange lights. The Red Flag air exercises were going on last week. These often involve the use of orange flares, which glow very bright orange in the night sky. Often four or five are deployed in rapid sequence while the plane is flying an evasive pattern, creating the illusion of a huge solid saucer-shaped object with orange lights around it. It certainly fooled me the first time I saw this!

I am pretty sure that whoever was tending bar at the Inn that night was referring to the night sortie of the Red Flag exercises as the "light show".

And finally, I know from a "pretty good source" that back in the 90's the base would actually put on light shows to feed the UFO rumors, and to distract from what they were really doing. One of the oldest magician tricks... :-)
