Tip of the iceberg

I worked for a government think tank back in the 80's and 90's where we worked on automating sensors and processes with computers as part of a ongoing evolution to get them to be able to make autonomous command decisions (Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence). This was mostly for the Air Force and black customers. I recall back in 1986 being horrified after hearing a lecture on the hunter killer drone concept. The other side of the coin was an autonomous drone that flew over the battlefield extracting wounded soldiers and moving them to operating stations. The problem with the AF drone concept is what happens if I can reprogram the drone to attack the troops it is supporting or confuse it's inputs so that it misinterprets data. This is just the tip of the iceberg. At least we live in interesting times.
