Excellent question. The answer is, we don't know for sure what exactly most of the units on the Nellis trunking system do. MOC is the Maintenance Operations Center, which controls most of the aircraft maintenance. Viper, Tomahawk, Eagle, Thunder, Strike and Raptor appear to be individual maintenance units responsible for a group of aircraft. Raptor is likely in charge of the F-22. I have heard Stinger, Scorpion, Apache, Gator and Rampage in connection with Ammo transports or security. I believe Dragon is the airfield controller. There are others, such as Tiger, Rocket, Factory and Ammo that we don't know much about. Callsigns Spat, Silver, Fireball and Black are mostly used during Red Flag.
