Their are radioactive areas on public land. Queen City Summit is one. I have been there with a Geiger counter. Their are a few guys that have been there and taken some souvenirs home. They still set the counter off. You can buy one in military surplus stores for less than $100.00. If you would explore the area with a counter you may be surprised at the readings in certain areas. To my knowledge their is not enough radiation on public land to do you harm. I and others have camped at Queen City Summit and the only after effects weve had is a tendency to wear a complete fil body suit, but thats normal,isnt it?
