When I posted, I was well aware that the chances that it was an RCS pole were very low, considering how much it doesn't look like other models we've seen. Just a thought experiment of sorts. I agree, this is the most fascinating part of the base for me right now. What sort of sensors or antennas could they possibly need in that triangular format? Why is it so close to the runways- does it need to be there? Maybe some new VORTAC-like technology? Frustrating that, since i know so little about aerospace engineering in its raw elements, I can't imagine where something like this would be needed. There was a post a few months ago with someone claiming they knew the designer and that it was a set of detailed sensors that covered everything in terms of data capture for Red Flag... but that was shot down quickly b/c of the mountains in the way. Anyone care to guess how tall this thing is?
