I've been trying to work out the purpose of the dirt bank built up alongside the new hangar.

When you look at the panorama photos its clear that it doesn't provide full visual security from Tikaboo Peak, the aircraft would need to be about 10ft high for it to be parked outside in daylight and totally hidden by the bank.

Instead I think that the combination of: the hangar's distant location, its angle relative to the nearby taxyway and the position of the dirt bank are designed to visually hide the parking ramp to the south of the hangar and whatever is inside the hangar from aircraft taxying past on the nearby taxyway.

The height of the bank would provide a complete visual screen to anything taxying past. The hangar's location would also mean that the test aircraft could get to the runway and back without taxying past the more active parts of the airfield.

Whatever is in the hangar is obviously sight sensitive but even to other Groom pilots and workers closer than a few hundred yards.
