If I remember back correctly at the time those Ospreys were there it was around the time that the USAF was announcing the CV-22 varient which unlike the Navy/Marine Corp version was designed to be a stealth instert/extract platform for the special ops command. I wonder if they were just collecting test data on the ability to fly undetected? See link:
