O.T. Atlantis STS-125

The Space Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled for launch at 2:01pm EDT today. It is the 5th and final mission to service and upgrade the Hubble Space Telescope.

One interesting fact is the Space Shuttle Endeavor is standing by on Pad 39B in the STS-400 "rescue" mission flight plan. Since this Atlantis mission is the last shuttle flight not going to the Space Station, if there is a Columbia type accident at launch, Endeavor will then be launched to transfer the crew to safety.
