Chernobyl was a design unlike ANYTHING American; no containment building, a poorly designed overly large core that allowed for localized hot spots and a totaliarian culture of operation and management. Comparing Chernobyl to American power plants, operation and oversight is like like taking a Pinto to Indy; it is just stupid. Stopping American nuclear program because of Chernobyl is riduculous, but since your arguement boils down to "not in my backyard", it just is an excuse. Once again an ounce of information does not equal a pound of opinion.
