Well being an A&P mechanic I couldn't help but take a peek a the 737-600 Maintenance manuals, since I haven't had the opportunity to work on a -600 and wanted to make sure I was giving correct information.

There is indeed an aft cargo door on the port side at station number 820.6 so it is quite possible you just have your port and starboard sides mixed up. In the buttoned up configuration that you see in that pic, I would highly doubt that they would leave a cargo door open.

Just some additional information regarding this aircraft...
