I see Joerg has updated the crash of the F-15D during Red Flag on July 30th. They say it was aircraft #85-0131. This still troubles me as Joerg and I visited the crash site on Aug 20th. Most of the wreckage was already cleaned up except thousands of small metal shards none bigger than 3 inches x 3 inches. Although very small they appeared to be painted in the green / blue lizard cammo and not the desert brown cammo as in the photo of #85-0131 shows. I have only seen reports of the aircraft's number in various forums but nothing official from the Air Force. The only thing close is the link to the aircraft serial number website, but I don't know where they got their info either. Anyone?
