Unfortunately, no repairs have been made to the road. The section between the intersection with the northern access road from Alamo and Badger Spring has several washes across the road that definitely require high clearance. Furter up, the road after the last left turn before you get to the lower staging area is so washed out that it requires super high clearance or a small enough vehicle, such as a Jeep Wrangler, and some serious off-road skills. The road to the upper staging area is not too bad, except for that rock "step" in the S-curve just past the lower staging area.

My advice: Rent a 4WD with high clearance and park at the last left turn. The last couple hundred yards are not worth the risk of getting stuck.
