I doubt it will be tested at Area-51, when Edwards AFB will do just fine. I'm sure it will use some the testing ranges there, though, much in the same manner that the B-2 did. The 2000 mile range is listed, because that's all it needs. They are going for "super stealth" because what they really need is something that can loiter over a battlefield, or time on station. However, they need to keep the aircrafts size down to a certain weight, because it also has to be affordable. However, due to the incredibly poor state of the U.S. economy, I doubt it will ever see the light of day. With the crashing U.S. economy and all of the money being sucked out by the mis-adventure in Iraq, I would be shocked if we even end up with half as many F-35s as ordered.
