what's the record of mig 29's (I don't know if the USAF or IAF has matched up against any Su27's so far) against old US technology like the F-15 and F-16? Not too good is it. Sort of like they haven't managed to shoot down either one of them in air-to-air. And I don't doubt there were a few russian "honchos" in some of the recent air combat either.
Since the US apparently a few Sukhois-27's, I think they know how best to defeat them too when the time comes.
Gee-whiz manueverability isn't where its all at anymore anyways - if the F-22 can detect the bad guys way out there, shoot his missiles and never be seen by the time the first impact occurs on the bad guys, then who cares about these cobra manuevers - all they do is make the pilot look more at his gauges inside the cockpit that what's outside. dead meat.
