I have done a fair amount of photography from model planes and remote cameras on full scale planes. I am also a kite enthusiast with probably a half dozen in the kite bag at the moment.

The problem comes from the fact you won't be able to aim the camera reliably. If you're zoomed in at all, you'll likely have too much motion to even get a recognizable image.


If it were up to me, I'd take some shots from a general avaition airplane just above Groom Lake road. The airspace is in an MOA, and the charts say you have to contact Nellis Appr. prior to entering the MOA, but technically, anybody can fly there. That would give you a slant range of about 14-16 miles (10 better than Tickaboo), and aiming would be a lot better, but you'd still have the challange of a shaking airframe....

I'll probably make this flight someday....
