The issue with the Chinese was they created a lot of debris at the altitude (865 km) they destroyed their satellite. It could have serious consequences for other satellites at that orbit.
US-193 is in orbit at 260 km. The plan is to take it out as it nears reentry, which keeps all the pieces on a reentry profile. The smaller pieces are more likely to burn up , rather than one big 20 ton hunk
