It's possible the name "Homey" is derived from the Home Plate designation that has been used since the OXCART program in the 1960s. This nickname appears in the A-12 flight logs in place of the designation Area 51 or the name Groom Lake. The Home Plate nickname has been used by security personnel in unenecrypted radio communications at least into the 1990s.
