You won't have to worry about the rattlesnakes until around May. Mountain Lions are present in fairly good numbers around Tikaboo and all of the mountain ranges near Rachel and Area 51. One time when I spent a night on Tikaboo, I ran across fresh tracks on top of my boot-print from the previous day near the large gray rock in the saddle between the two peaks. On another occasion, I was digging fossils high in the Groom Range, not too far from the line, when one of the Area 51 "guard lions" walked to within 18 inches on me in the middle of the day. I wound up thumping it on the nose with a 16 inch wreckers bar I was carrying to get it to move far enough away that I could safely back off to my jeep.
