Roving Sands used to be conducted at the TTR. Maybe they still do similar training on a smaller scale. Of course, this could still be done elsewhere instead of the TTR.

This just goes to show you that a quick inspection of the TTR is warrented when in the area. It's on the way for those traveling from northern California during the period when the Sierra route is open. This route also makes basecamp a short diversion as well (under 10 miles), though I've never even seen a plane at basecamp.
