Most military high security areas will put you on the floor if you try to sneak any uncleared electronic devices into a highly secure area. That includes cell phones, blackberries, cameras, camcorders, binoculars, pagers, etc. There are warnings everywhere and as a guest you usually have to sign a legal document that you agree to these conditions and a none disclosure agreement of what you see. In a top secret area you are always being watched and you would do well to keep your eyes on others behavior which is part of the security culture. By the time the average contractor gets cleared to enter a top secret area he will have been through many classes and many briefings on security. Basically security is a culture and to get access to higher levels of security you have to take to that culture like religion. I have seen engineers have to go through security classes again for not spinning the lock on their safe before leaving their labs (3 strikes and you lose your clearance). Lazar's charactor seems to be totally oblivious to the culture and how one behaves in it. If the U.S. had Alien technology as Lazar claims then you can be sure that he would been thoroughly briefed and educated on his assignment before he was allowed in the area. The unlikely possibility is Lazar saw a bunch of Alien cowboys joyriding their hot rod saucers in the desert, which may explain why DHS/ICE is poking around. Seriously though, I don't know anyone who has worked at area 51 who calls it area 51. It is referred to differently depending on which contractor or agency is referring to it.
