As a former resident of Merritt Island, and a former employee at KSC, I would recommend Jetty Park in Port Canaveral, or any stretch of sand on Cocoa Beach. The view is fantastic from there. Jetty Park is right on the ocean at the entrance to the port, so it is as close as you can get from the south with out being on Merritt Island itself for the launch. The only bad thing is that you have to pay to get in (about five bucks IIRC), and you need to get there early, as it fills up fast on launch days. Enjoy the Launch!!! Kris
