Thanks for the report, Gary. Glad to see you made it back. If you don't mind I'll post your report in the trip reports section. I look forward to your photos of the chopper incident. Re. the front gate at night: Some of the security jeeps have light bars, and I have seen at least one of the F-150's with red and blue lights in the front grill. I assume they turned them on as a warning. There are lots of new radar sites near the Cedar gate. If you can give me approximate GPS coordinates of the blinking light I'll check it out next time I'm out there. There is one on a small hill in range 74 a few miles south of the cactus gate. Maybe that is what you saw? TTR was quite busy when I came by on 7/9. There were several dozen vehicles parked in front of the old bowling place, one of their shuttle bus stops.
