This new tower has been erected recently near the Guard Shack on Groom Lake Road. The photo was taken Sunday, September 30, 2007 in the afternoon, by British freelance journalist Angus Batey.

The tower is located south of the GL Rd signs. It is visible from the ridge north-east of the signs. Judging from the joshua trees in the photo, it appears to be at least 65-70 foot tall. There is a red light on top, a lightning protector on the right, and what looks like two flood lights, or small dishes on the left. The tower is tied down with wires, which are anchored to fairly large boxes on the ground.

Any further info on this is appreciated. I will try to verify this asap.
