I received a reply today from HQ ACC, Langley AFB, to my FOIA, requesting "All future dates of upcoming Red Flag exercises, as known or planned at this time, with participating units and their respective country of origin. ..."

The reply confirms the dates that we had already posted. It also states that "The paricipating unit, countries of origin, and objectives are exempt from release under the Freedom on Information Act, Title 5, United States Code, Section 552(b)(2) High. The release of participating units and the specific unit objectives may be used by hostile parties to assess and exploit security vulnerabilities; thereby, hindering the effective performance of a significant function of the Department of Defense. ..."

The funny part is that the dates we posted, as well as the list of units, as listed in the attached link, was handed to the people of Rachel over a month ago. At the same time, Nellis public affairs won't even return our emails. But, sneaky as we are, we just copied the list that was handed to the folks in Rachel. Which of course no "hostile party" would ever dream of doing. So, we can safely assume that "the effective performance of a significant function of the Department of Defense" is still guaranteed. Good to know...
