Re: Perseids at A51 anyone?

I'm serious about watching the Perseids from somewhere. From SLC HWY 375 is about a 6 - 7 hour drive. Not sure how to get to Mt. Sterling, how much extra time it adds, and because I just had a microdiskectomy (L4/l5) and have lost some feeling in my right foot, I'm not up to much hiking right now (used to hike a bit, did the first 250 miles of the AT,a nd have been on top of Colorado 14ers 4 or 5 times.)

Also just being in the desert west of 375, even looking east, doesn't seem like a bad place to be.

Realistically though, given gas prices and the like, I'll probably opt for something closer to home with skies that are about as dark.

Which causes me to wonder if there's some other bse in Utah that might be just as interesting, closer to home, and with a view toward the meteors?

Hadn't considered that possibility until just now . . .
