Yeppers--NASA's got a DC-8, the WB-57, and an ER-2 heading to Costa Rica to examine how what Thunderstorms cough up (literally, to the tropopause, about 60,000 feet up) in terms of ice crystals and cirrus clouds affect how thunderstorms form and work.
