>Now have any of the spotters here ever Lots of interesting stories about transporting vehicles to the area. . There was a cargo cult that evolved around the C-5’s arriving at Burbank to transport 117’s. Word would "get out" about a possible C-5’s arrival (think it was mostly Thursday nights?) and there would be dozens of cars assembling off San Fernando Road, near building 360, to watch. Of course no one knew what the C-5 was doing/transporting (lots of speculation) but the fun was watching it land/take-off at Burbank. . Transporting the blackbirds looked like a three-ring circus was on the move. The main transport box was too wide for normal streets. Support cars went ahead and removed sign-posts (stop signs, etc) along the roadway edge (previously surveyed, cut and rejoined with a fitting that allowed easy removal), followed by the main transport box and then support cars that put the sign-posts back up - sometimes leapfrogging. Other support vehicles were also involved.. except for the Highway Patrol all plan cars and/or a front trucking company. The object was to keep the slow moving main transport box always moving – lost of work. When they asked for volunteers, you did not put your hand up for transport duty.. NO
