You might want to hold off for a handheld version of the BC996T. It trunk tracks much better that the 396T, and some claim the APCO quality is as good as a pro-96. Uniden typically announces new models at the January CES.

Every once in a while, the FBI has to drop their encryption. I have a recording of FBI agents that would make a sailor blush. Dispatch (or whatever the FBI calls it) is often unencrypted.
