High-performance military aircraft capable of exceeding 761mph at sea level will cause a sonic boom, and Southern California has more than their share of such aircraft. When looking for the source of hoofbeats, military exercises would be horses, ultra-black, exotic hypersonic aircraft would be zebras.
Like believing old guys who claim to have stealthed themselves through 100 miles of rugged and highly monitored desert, I can acknowledge that incredibly improbable things could actually be true. Maybe Aurora is alive and well and making all kinds or racket offshore. My preference, however, is to lean heavily towards believing proven, reliable sources. I challenge anyone to find a source more proven and reliable than Peter.
