There is a road that gets you within a few miles (2 I recall) of the top, but I hear it isn't much of a road. From the topo map, you don't want to hike Badger Mt. from the Tikaboo road, but if you make such an attempt, please put me in your will. The approach from the east side is better.

I started on the road to the back of Badger and it got pretty ugly. I would say the road needs to be "groomed" (heh heh) unless you like rock hopping. This is not to say it would be impossible.

If you have Glen Campbell's guide to Area 51, he says he spent some time making some of the roads in the area passable, and suggests keeping a shovel in the SUV.
