There is a term in astronomy called "poor seeing", which is always the case when you are shooting from Tikaboo to the base. [You only hav 3 miles of atmosphere in astronomy.] The claim is a larger scope would not be as sharp under poor seeing conditions.

A refractor would have a flatter field than a reflector, but you can compensate for the light fall off with the panotools plug in for photoshop. [There is a shareware and commercial version of the program.]
