The X-37 wasn't meant to be "sexy." It is a technology demonstrator for an unmanned spaceplane that could place small payloads in orbit and service other spacecraft (refueling spy satellites, for example). The VentureStar would have been a full-scale outgrowth of the X-33. The program was cancelled and the incomplete X-33 vehicle stored at the launch site at Edwards. No telling if it will ever be resurrected.
