Groom Lake overflight by Google?

Naturally everyone here has spent hours closely studying all of NTS in the high resolution areas on Google Earth.

But does anyone know how Google obtained the high-res aerial photos, that seem to have been taken almost vertically downwards, of a highly classified base deep within a restricted area with no upper ceiling?

Was it sanctioned by the Air Force? Did they classify as geological surveys and therefore able to bypass the no-fly zone? Any thoughts or concrete knowledge about this?
