Yeah, you have Hancock Summit right behind you, so the south view is pretty poor. However, if you want to listen to Groom and you don't have the time or means to drive up to Powerline Overlook, the radio reception right there by the side of the road is pretty good. I think driving to Powerline Overlook at night would be a bit risky unless you have really good lights on your vehicle, so this spot is handy if you just want to hang out and scan in the evening.

FYI, none of the ham repeaters in the Vegas or Central Nevada worked anywhere around Groom. Even the one supposedly at Warm Spring didn't work even when kerchucked at the intersection of 6 and 375. I suspect you could hit some out of state repeaters from Powerline overlook as the Salt Lake City ATC was coming in very clear there.
