In the "old days" there were manual destruct ayatems, thermite grenades, circuit board crushers, and other methods of technical denial.

Even with the best of all those, you have to figure that the systems are compromised.

That being said, the best we can hope for is limitation of the damage to future collection efforts.

In the State Department brefing today {the parts you don't see packaged on the evening news}, the question was asked why we didn't use satellites to collect this type of information. All the spokesperson said was that it's not feasabile to use satellite collection for the information they were seeking.

Which makes sense, as what they were looking for is a lot shorter range than that, triggered by the prescence of that aircraft, and not directed into space.

My hope is that we get our people back safely, and eventually get our bird back, too.
