Leaving in San Diego County I can say that turning Miramar in the SD airport has been in the rumor mill for over 10 years. I personally dont thing the Marines will leave. Its primarly a chopper base now with limited activity as it is. If the residents of SD are unhappy with noise from the military then they will be really unhappy with a huge airport going in. Lastly, I think that Miramar was switched to the realignment list bacause of politics. I may be wrong but SD has a huge military presents and taking the base out isnt a popular disicion.
