I have never used that particular scanner, so I can't say much about its sensitivity etc. It looks like it does not cover much of the mil. air band, but perhaps it can be modified.

IMO mil. air band is very important around Groom. It is used extensively during Red Flag, and also by Groom tower and approach/departure for most flights other than Janets.

A very important thing to look for in a scanner is how comfortable you are with its use. My IC-R20 is an excellent scanner, but it has so darn many features that all the keys have 3 and 4 different meanings, depending on what mode you are in and how long you press them. This can be quite confusing in the beginning, or if you only use it occasionally. If you have a scanner that you feel comfortable with, even if its not the best on the market, it is a good scanner for you.
